BOSTON (WBZ) ― With his decisive victory in the Massachusetts Senate race, Scott Brown became the 41st republican in the U.S. Senate and a national news headline. Thursday night he just may have cemented his pop culture star power, when he was the topic of David Letterman’s Top Ten list.

Letterman started in on the nation’s newest Senator right off the top of his monologue. He poked fun at Brown’s now-famous pickup truck ads and Massachusetts politics, but mostly his “smoldering hunkiness,” and nude spread in Cosmo during college.

“Today Scott and his wife celebrated the big election win by taking a nice leisurely walk on the beach,” Letterman announced in his monologue, while showing video of a naked couple strolling in the sand.

“Massachusetts elects a republican who drives a truck with 200,000 miles on it,” Letterman said. “It’s a Chevy truck. Which is more hard to believe? Massachusetts elects a republican or Chevy builds a truck that lasts 200,000 miles?”

The Late Night host couldn’t resist the chance to take a shot at Boston sports, explaining Martha Coakley’s loss this way: “Apparently she put in the Patriots defense.”

He topped it all off with the “Top Ten Surprising Facts About Scott Brown”:
